The essay's fixation on racial identity, particularly from a leftist viewpoint, really narrows its scope and impact. It mainly tackles American White anxiety about demographic shifts, linking reactions almost exclusively to racial identity. This approach risks overlooking other complex social dynamics that also shape public attitudes and behaviors.

Furthermore, the lack of counterarguments here is a significant shortfall. It omits perspectives from other racial groups impacted by these demographic changes, thereby restricting the discussion’s breadth and depth. The essay also generalizes the reactions of American Whites as if they're a homogeneous group, which isn’t accurate. This glosses over the diversity of opinions and behaviors within this demographic, skewing the portrayal of how individuals or subgroups actually perceive and respond to these changes.
