I'm surprised that you are being so generous stating the republicans of today are largely open to gay marriage and access to abortion. How does this square with current events?

I am more surprised that you speak of today’s Republican party without referencing a significant shift away from traditional republicanism to fascist populism. A party that deliberately supports its own attempts at election fraud crosses an important line.
