Prevailing stereotypes about young Black inner-city males as being unproductive and dangerous continue to be reinforced. While we can argue systemic issues have contributed to this outcome, I agree with Thomas Sowell that disparities in economic outcomes between different racial and ethnic groups can often be attributed to cultural factors, such as values, attitudes, and behaviors, rather than solely to discrimination or systemic racism.
