Meritocracy is a cornerstone of a liberal society. While systemic bias is corrosive to meritocracy, Affirmative Action was an obvious target for a republican SCOTUS being that its constitutionality could be called into question. These are desperate times, but I have to feel optimistic that we can devise a new system to balance systemic bias.
